Christmas & Melanoma

December 23, 2011, In: Family Life

This Christmas is going to be very hard for my husband’s family. It’s our first without Steve. We lost him in April due to metastatic melanoma and to say it was (and is) hard, would be the understatement of the century. Brett and I are much too young to be losing parents. He was very close to his dad so it’s going to be rough. Not sure what we’ll be doing this weekend as we just arrived in Iowa last night. I am sure there will be lots of tears, but hopefully some laughs as well.

Now, I want to ask for a Christmas present from you. It’s nothing that you need to buy and it won’t take up too much of your time during this busy holiday season.

First, I would like to ask you to watch the short video titled Dear 16-Year-Old Me at the end of this post. It’s very moving and was created by the people at the David Cornfield Melanoma Fund to raise awareness about this horrible disease.

Second, please share the video with someone you care about.

Lastly, give someone you love a big hug and tell them how much they mean to you.

I wish you a very happy holiday season with your loved ones!
