February’s challenge must have gotten in my bones because I have been busy cleaning out all kinds of things this weekend. Not only did I set aside another big bag of clothes to take to goodwill (instead of back in my closet), I cleaned out our attic and then tackled our paper files. I feel so organized!
I am so glad I did the 30 for 30 challenge. It really helped me see how little we can be comfortable with. I was also amazed at how many different looks could be made with the same 30 items. Don’t believe me? Take a look at all 30 days below. I’m not much of an accessory person so you won’t notice any scarves, hats or belts making a difference. Plus, I never repeated an exact outfit!
I am really lucky that my life is pretty casual right now. I do not have to dress up to go to an office everyday so that really helped make this challenge a bit easier for me. However, I think I could easily live with less than 100 items in my closet full time, even if I had a more typical office job. 1/3 would be office clothes, 1/3 would be spring summer clothes, and 1/3 would be fall winter clothes. In fact, that sounds like a good goal to strive for!
One thing’s for sure – I will be paying closer attention to how an item fits before purchasing it in the future. I was able to eliminate several items from my closet that just didn’t fit right. I will also be practicing “one in, two out” until I get my clothes down to a reasonable number (100 perhaps?). So that means, every time I buy one item, I need to remove two things from my closet.
How about you? Would you do a challenge like this? What would you hope to get out of it? What would your biggest challenge be? I can’t wait to find out!
