Grown Up Peanut Butter and Jelly

Published by Deanna Yates on

One of my favorite flavor combinations is peanut butter and jelly. I just love it and never grew out of eating a good pb&j sandwich! However, now that my taste buds are a bit more sophisticated, I thought it would be fun to think of other food combinations that would result in the same great taste I have come to know and love from my favorite childhood sandwich.
Here are 3 grown up peanut butter and jelly versions I tried recently.
A few months ago when we were in Aspen I got a chance to try this with ice cream. We had two different flavors from two different brands and wanted to do a taste test. The first flavor was peanut butter cup from Boulder Ice Cream. The second flavor was black raspberry chocolate chip from Graeter’s.

The result…delicious! And the addition of chocolate wasn’t too shabby either. Mom never made it like that when I was younger. Hee hee!

Then the other day I saw a peanut butter and jelly Larabar at the grocery store. Of course I picked it up. Unfortunately, not as good as the ice cream. It just wasn’t as flavorful as other Larabars I have enjoyed in the past.
Peanut Butter and Jelly is a Popular Flavor Combination. Sometimes it's not as good as others.
My third combo is pretty easy to pull off. Grab a bowl of cherries and a bowl of almonds or cashews and snack away. Mmm, mmm, mmm.

How about you? Do you have any favorite childhood flavors that you’ve adapted now that you’re older?

I am not really a PB&J girl, to be honest. Probably because I am not American. (The rest of the world doesn't understand this American combination of flavors.) My daughter is, though. But I must day, that ice cream combo you made is worth a try.
Happy SITS Day! Enjoy the comment love today. It's a fabulous feeling I know from experience.
