Can you believe it is May already? Honestly, where is this year going? Here in Munich, the celebration of Spring is in full bloom and we are enjoying breaking out of our winter shells. How is it where you live?
I have a secret to share…Bavarians love any reason to celebrate. Was that not really a secret? Oh well. But, spring is no exception and we celebrated with the Spring Fair, Fruelingsfest this weekend. It’s like a mini-Oktoberfest complete with the tent, band, large mugs of beer, pretzel eating, standing on the benches, and singing.
Another holiday in Spring celebrated in Germany is Mother’s Day. From what I can tell, it’s very similar to how we celebrate in The States. Children craft little presents, give flowers, and make breakfast. We’ll probably head to the park for a picnic lunch if the weather is nice.
How do you celebrate Mother’s Day?
And if you forgot that Mother’s Day is just around the corner, I put together a last-minute gift guide for all of the important women in your life. You can read the whole post here, but these are a few of my favorites.
For Your Mom or Mother-in-Law:
And if your mom or mom-in-law is always asking for new pictures of the grandkids (and really, who isn’t), this digital frame is a great option. You can update it and add new pictures from anywhere so she won’t even have to learn how to work it.
For Your Sister or Sister-in-Law
For Your Best Friend
For Your Daughter
If you want to drop a hint to your husband about what to buy you this year, I have created a simple, but cute hint letter and put it in my Freebies Library. But to make it easy, you can also click on the image to download it.
It’s fill-in-the-blank so you can print it out, write in whatever you’d love to get as a gift this year, and leave it for him to discover.
For all of you that are moms, I wish you a very happy Mother’s Day!
We have a very tough, but extremely rewarding job. Your kids appreciate everything you do for them, even if they never say it out loud.
And don’t forget to call your mom and tell her how much you love and appreciate her!!
