I hope you had a wonderful Memorial Day (if you are in the USA). It was a normal day for us in Germany, but we do have a different holiday coming up this week.

On Thursday, Germany (and most of Europe) will celebrate Ascension Day. It is a federal holiday so most shops and stores will be closed. This is also the day Germans celebrate Father’s Day! It feels strange to celebrate on a Thursday, but hey, since everything will be closed, it will feel like Sunday so why not?!?

The good news is that because it is almost 3 weeks before Father’s Day in the US, I am prepared early!

I even put together a super cute Father’s Day book, you can print out for free to have your little ones put together for their Daddy.

f you want to print out the booklet, you can find it in the Freebies Library. (Don’t forget the password is AwesomeMama – case sensitive)

I also have a few gift ideas if you need help finding something for your Dad, husband, brother, or uncle.

My favorites are this Smart Jump Rope for the techie Dad that wants to get in shape and these vintage records turned into drink coasters for the Dad who still loves vinyl.

You can find all 11 gift ideas on this Father’s Day Gift Guide post.

How are you planning to celebrate Father’s Day?

Here in Germany, the tradition has evolved to include all men, not just Dads. They can usually be found pulling a wagon of beer through the park and chillin’ with their friends. I’ll see if I can manage to capture a picture of the festivities this week. I’m also imaging that not much work will be getting done on Friday. Ha!

Cheers!
